Shining a light on Michigan’s Politics

Speaker Matt Hall is demanding accountability from a state bureaucracy that expects taxpayers to keep paying while office buildings sit empty.

Records show wildly different attendance policies across Michigan agencies, with some departments requiring employees to report in person as little as once a month. Speaker Hall says swipe-card data suggests fewer than 25% of state employees are reporting to their offices, even though agencies are supposed to maintain an 80% in-person workforce.

Speaker Hall did more than complain about the problem. He delivered results.

Under his leadership, the new state budget requires departments to disclose their workplace policies and develop a uniform plan for in-person work. After years of bureaucrats hiding behind inconsistent rules and refusing to provide basic transparency, Speaker Hall is forcing state government to answer to the taxpayers who fund it.

Michigan residents work hard, show up and expect timely service from their government. Speaker Hall is making sure state agencies live by that same standard.
