Speaker Matt Hall continues to take the arrows for the Republican caucus—and House Democrats are making clear how much they want him out of the way.
According to Detroit News reporting, House Democrats are planning roughly $700,000 in spending to try to unseat Hall.
That spending comes as Hall and House Republicans pursue lower property taxes, lower utility bills and greater accountability for hospital pricing. Their agenda gives families concrete reasons to support a Republican majority: more money to cover necessities, buy a home and build a future in Michigan.
Hall is putting conservative principles into practice: cut taxes, challenge powerful interests and make government answer to the people paying the bills. That is the promise of a pro-Trump agenda—and the opposite of the liberal policies that keep demanding more from working families.
If House Democrats believe attacking Hall will make voters forget who is fighting to lower their costs, they are making a compelling case for remaining the minority party.
Hall keeps taking the heat because he is willing to lead. House Republicans should keep making the election about what that leadership means for families’ wallets.
