Democrats Target Speaker Matt Hall for Delivering Conservative Victories

Speaker Matt Hall has given Democrats something they aren’t used to in Lansing: a Republican leader willing to fight. Taking on waste, fraud and abuse. Pushing for smaller government and lower taxes. Demanding accountability from Dana Nessel and Jocelyn Benson. Hall’s approach is giving conservatives a reason to expect results while challenging the way Lansing does business.

Now Democrats are reserving more than $700,000 in advertising against him. Our read? They want to sideline the speaker driving a Republican agenda focused on lowering costs, allowing people to keep more of what they earn and beating an extremist Democrat agenda. It just won’t work.

Buying airtime is easy. Convincing voters is another. This is a Republican speaker fighting for lower costs and greater accountability every single day. Hall has a clear case to make about what he wants Lansing to deliver: more money in people’s pockets, less waste in government and answers from officials who would rather avoid scrutiny.

There is also a cost to this gamble. Every dollar Democrats ultimately spend targeting Hall is a dollar they cannot spend helping other candidates that are actually vulnerable. If I’m Democrats, I’m mad that weak Ranjeev Puri is wasting resources in a race that the Speaker won last by 15 points. Republicans deliver and when they do, Democrats target them.

We should all be thanking Speaker Hall for taking all the arrows.
